Why AE

See the paver pattern before we set the first stone.

Color, pattern direction, border accents, transitions to grass or pool — easier to see in a rendering of your real yard than on a sample board. Render it first, then we install exactly that.

Scottsdale & North Scottsdale

Travertine pool decks for Scottsdale estates.

Silver, ivory, and walnut travertine remain the defining pool-deck material in Scottsdale — cool underfoot, timeless, and matched to Tuscan, modern, and contemporary architecture across Silverleaf, DC Ranch, Troon, and Grayhawk. AE installs French-pattern and large-format travertine over engineered base.

What travertine pattern is most popular in Scottsdale?+

French pattern (4-piece) in silver or ivory travertine is the dominant Scottsdale pool-deck spec. For modern homes we install 16×24 or 24×24 large-format travertine in a running bond. Both are fully HOA-approvable in DC Ranch, Silverleaf, and Troon.

Do you install paver driveways in North Scottsdale?+

Yes — Belgard, Pavestone, and Techo-Bloc concrete pavers and large-format porcelain driveway pavers are installed regularly in DC Ranch, Grayhawk, and Pinnacle Peak. We engineer 6–8 inches of compacted base for vehicle loads.

Paradise Valley

Porcelain and travertine for PV estate decks.

PV clients want pool decks that stay cool, look right against Camelback and Mummy, and never look like a tract-home patio. Large-format porcelain and premium travertine, set on a proper 4–6 inch base with polymeric joints, is our standard PV deck.

Will travertine stay cool on a PV pool deck in July?+

Yes — silver and ivory travertine measure 20–40°F cooler than stamped concrete or dark concrete pavers in direct Phoenix sun. Walking barefoot in July is genuinely comfortable, which is the entire point.

Do you do paver overlays on PV concrete decks?+

Yes — thin travertine and thin porcelain pavers bonded over sound existing concrete are common in PV remodels. We saw-cut control joints, prep the surface, and bond with polymer-modified mortar.

Phoenix · Arcadia · Biltmore

Pavers and flagstone for historic Phoenix lots.

Arcadia ranches and Biltmore Spanish-revival homes call for flagstone, antique travertine, and warm-toned concrete pavers that read as period-correct. AE matches paver tone to existing stucco, roof tile, and trim — and installs over engineered base so the patio is dead flat in 10 years.

Can you match pavers to my Arcadia ranch's stucco color?+

Yes — we bring physical paver samples to your home and view them in your light, against your stucco and roof tile, before any order is placed. This is the only honest way to match color in Arizona sun.

Do you install flagstone in central Phoenix?+

Yes — Arizona buckskin, Sedona red, and chocolate flagstone are all stocked. We set on mortar over concrete base or on compacted aggregate with mortared joints depending on the use case.

Mesa · Gilbert · Chandler · Queen Creek

East Valley patios and driveways built to last.

East Valley homes get full backyard transformations — paver patios, driveways, walkways, pool decks, and side-yard runs all in one project. Travertine and large-format porcelain dominate; Belgard and Pavestone concrete pavers for budget-sensitive builds. All on engineered base.

Do you install paver driveways in Gilbert and Chandler?+

Yes — Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, and Queen Creek paver driveways are a weekly install. We coordinate City of Chandler and Town of Gilbert right-of-way permits for the driveway apron.

Can you match pavers across a Mesa patio and pool deck?+

Yes — a single paver run from the back door, around the pool, and out to the side gate is our standard East Valley spec. One material, one joint pattern, one drainage plan.

Common questions
Which paver is best for Arizona heat?+

Travertine and porcelain pavers stay 20–40°F cooler underfoot than concrete pavers or stamped concrete in Phoenix sun. Travertine is the classic Scottsdale luxury choice; porcelain is the modern, lower-maintenance equivalent.

How much do pavers cost installed in Phoenix?+

Concrete pavers run $14–$22/sq ft installed; travertine $18–$30/sq ft; porcelain pavers $22–$38/sq ft; natural flagstone $25–$45/sq ft. Driveways add $4–$8/sq ft for thicker base and heavier-duty paver spec.

Pavers vs. stamped concrete — which lasts longer in AZ?+

Pavers win decisively. Stamped concrete cracks within 5–10 years from Phoenix heat cycling; pavers flex with thermal movement and individual pieces can be lifted and reset. Lifecycle cost favors pavers significantly.

Do pavers need sealing in Phoenix?+

Travertine and natural stone benefit from a penetrating sealer every 3–5 years to manage staining. Porcelain and concrete pavers don't require sealing but can be sealed for color enhancement. Polymeric joint sand should be refreshed every 5–7 years.

How thick is the paver base?+

We install 4–6 inches of compacted crushed aggregate for patios and walkways, 6–8 inches for driveways, plus 1 inch of leveling sand. This is the most common shortcut bad installers take — too thin a base means pavers shift within 2 summers.

Can pavers be installed over existing concrete?+

Yes — we offer paver overlay installations using thin pavers (porcelain or thin travertine) bonded over sound existing concrete. Saves demolition cost and disposal but requires the existing concrete to be in good structural condition.

Do paver driveways need permits in Phoenix?+

Driveway aprons at the city right-of-way typically require a permit; the rest of the driveway usually doesn't. AE pulls all required City of Phoenix, Scottsdale, and HOA approvals.

What about weeds in paver joints?+

Polymeric joint sand (we use SureBond G2 or Techniseal HP NextGel) hardens like grout and blocks 95%+ of weed growth. Properly installed, you should see almost no weeds for 5–7 years.

Will pavers crack in monsoon storms?+

No — pavers handle freeze-thaw and thermal cycling far better than poured concrete. Heavy monsoon rain on a properly graded paver patio drains through the joints to the base layer, where it dissipates without saturating the surface.

Can you match pavers to my existing house?+

Yes — color matching to existing stucco, stone, roof tile, and trim is part of every AE paver design. We bring physical samples to your home, in your light, before final selection.
