Why AE

See your yard at night before we install.

Lighting is about contrast, focal points, and shadow — almost impossible to picture from a daytime plan. Render the lit version of your yard first, then we install fixtures to match the scene exactly.

Where we build

Local expertise across the Valley.

Scottsdale & North Scottsdale

Estate lighting for Silverleaf, Troon, and DC Ranch.

North Scottsdale's dark-sky overlay and HOA design codes require warm-color, shielded, downward-aimed fixtures. AE designs to Silverleaf, Troon North, Desert Mountain, and DC Ranch lighting guidelines — uplit saguaros, grazed stone, moonlit canopies, no glare and no light trespass.

Is your lighting dark-sky compliant in North Scottsdale?+

Yes — every fixture we install in the dark-sky overlay is full-cutoff, 2700K or warmer, and aimed below horizontal. We submit fixture cut sheets to Silverleaf DRB and Troon HOA as part of the standard approval package.

Can you light my Scottsdale saguaros and mature trees?+

Yes — saguaro and palo verde uplighting is some of our signature work in North Scottsdale. We use brass FX Luminaire and Hinkley well lights with proper standoff so the heat doesn't damage the cactus tissue.

Paradise Valley

Architectural and landscape lighting for PV view homes.

PV homes are about silhouettes — Camelback, Mummy, Praying Monk. We design lighting that frames those views at night: grazed stone walls, moonlit mesquite canopies, low-glow path lighting that doesn't compete with the mountain. Town-of-PV-compliant, dark-sky-aware.

Will lighting wash out my Camelback Mountain view?+

Not when designed correctly. We keep glare out of sightlines using shielded, downward-aimed fixtures and warm color temperatures, so the mountain stays the focal point and the landscape provides a soft luminous frame.

Does Paradise Valley have lighting restrictions?+

Yes — Town of Paradise Valley enforces fixture shielding, color temperature, and light-trespass standards. AE designs every PV install to those standards and submits documentation when the Town requests it.

Phoenix · Arcadia · Biltmore

Central Phoenix lighting for mature trees and historic homes.

Arcadia's mature citrus, sycamore, and palm canopies are the best uplighting opportunities in Phoenix. We light the trees, the architecture, and the pool perimeter with warm LED and smart controls — beautiful from inside the kitchen window, beautiful from the curb.

Do you light Arcadia citrus and sycamore trees?+

Yes — mature Arcadia trees are perfect uplighting candidates. Two or three brass well lights per tree, aimed up through the canopy, create the moonlit effect Arcadia is known for after dark.

Can you integrate with my Arcadia smart-home system?+

Yes — we integrate landscape lighting with Lutron RA3, Control4, and Savant systems common in Arcadia and Biltmore remodels. One app, one schedule, one set of scenes for interior and exterior.

Cave Creek · Carefree · Fountain Hills

Desert-sensitive lighting for the north Valley.

Cave Creek and Carefree dark-sky ordinances are among the strictest in Arizona. AE designs landscape lighting that complies fully — turtle-safe amber options near washes, full-cutoff fixtures, and motion-activated security lighting that doesn't bleed onto neighbors.

Are you familiar with Cave Creek and Carefree dark-sky codes?+

Yes — we install regularly in both towns. Every fixture, lamp, and aim point we propose passes Cave Creek and Carefree dark-sky review on the first submittal.

Can lighting work with my Fountain Hills wash or natural desert?+

Yes — we use amber and warm-white LED, shielded fixtures, and motion sensors near washes to minimize wildlife disturbance while keeping the property beautiful and safe.

Common questions
How much does landscape lighting cost in Phoenix?+

A professional low-voltage lighting design with transformer, fixtures, wiring, and smart controller typically runs $3,500–$12,000 for a residential yard. Full estate properties with pool, architectural, and tree lighting can exceed $25,000.

What brands of landscape lighting do you install?+

We install commercial-grade brands engineered for Arizona UV and monsoon: FX Luminaire, Kichler Pro, Vista Pro, Hinkley, Brilliance LED. We avoid big-box residential fixtures because they corrode within 2–3 summers in Phoenix conditions.

Is low-voltage lighting safe around pools?+

Yes — 12V low-voltage is the code-required standard for landscape and pool-perimeter lighting in Arizona. We install transformers, wiring, and fixtures per Maricopa County and Scottsdale electrical code.

Can I control my lights from my phone?+

Yes. We install smart controllers (FX Luminaire Luxor, Brilliance Color Effect, or whole-home Lutron / Control4 integration) with scheduling, zone control, color tuning, and remote access.

Will the lighting attract bugs?+

Modern warm-white LED (2700K–3000K) and amber turtle-friendly LED attract dramatically fewer insects than older halogen or daylight LED. We default to warm color temperatures for both aesthetics and bug reduction.

How long do landscape lighting fixtures last?+

Commercial-grade brass and copper fixtures last 20+ years in Arizona. LED lamps last 30,000–50,000 hours (about 15–20 years on a dusk-to-dawn schedule). Cheap aluminum and composite fixtures fail in 2–4 years here.

Do you light architectural features and trees?+

Yes — uplighting on saguaro, palo verde, mesquite, and palms is some of the highest-impact lighting we do. Architectural grazing on stone and stucco walls, downlighting from ramadas, and moonlighting from tree canopies are all standard offerings.

What about pool and water-feature lighting?+

We coordinate color-changing LED pool lights (Pentair IntelliBrite, Hayward ColorLogic), water-feature accent lighting, and perimeter pool-deck lighting on one unified controller — so the whole pool zone scenes together.

Will lighting work during a power outage?+

We can add battery backup transformers or full off-grid solar lighting on path and accent fixtures. Most estate properties also have a generator-backed lighting circuit so the entry and pool area stay lit.

How energy-efficient is LED landscape lighting?+

An entire 30-fixture residential install typically draws less than 200 watts — about the same as one old incandescent bulb. Annual electricity cost is usually $25–$60 on Arizona rates.
